Born in Zimbabwe, Jill Frumanovsky move to London with her parent where she studied textiles and graphic design. She began her career at the Rainbow Theater where many rock bands would preform. This opened up opportunities for her and she began to photograph many rock musicians. Throughout her career she has photographed the likes of Bob Dylan, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyed, Blondie, The Police and many others. Furmanovsky has received several awards for her work, including ‘The Jane Brown Observer Portrait Award’ for her portrait of Charlie Watts. Not only this but she was the founder and creator of rockarchive.com – a website dedicated to making the work of Furmanovsky and photographic colleagues and visual artists more accessible to fans and collectors.
